E-Holiday trends for 2010
Online shopping is helping customers save this holiday season.
Is your company prepared for the e-holiday trend?
by Natalie Cukerman, Business Development

Save, save, save. Consumers are very money-conscious this holiday season and are considering e-commerce as an alternative way of shopping. The U.S Commerce department stated, “e-commerce sales increased nearly 13.7% during the third quarter from the same period a year ago and captured 4.2% of total retail sales, a new record for e-commerce.”

Tip of the month tip

1. Be active in your online communities.
To successfully leverage your social media for online marketing, you need to be active in your virtual communities. Ergo, it's best to have power accounts on a few social media sites, rather then trying to manage many of them across multiple networks. Find your niche.

2. Initiate social bookmarking campaigns online.
Social bookmarking is a way for people to save their favorite webpages online. By using social bookmarking, people can access their favorite bookmarks from any computer and share them with others. Bookmarks are usually stored with tags, single words that describe a page, making it easy for people to search for similar bookmarks or find bookmarks they have saved. Social bookmarking is important for any website because it can gets you more visibility and can generate traffic in a variety of ways.

3. Stay as ethical as you possibly can.
With privacy disappearing and our online identities now being crowd-sourced, ethical guidelines in social media are crucial for keeping us safe while keeping the internet open for both communication and commerce.
Honesty: State only what you know to be true, and be clear about opinion vs. fact.
Transparency: Be straightforward about who you are and who you're representing online.
Respect: Respect yourself, your peers, and even your adversaries.
Privacy: Treat the intimate details of others as you would your own personal information.
Relevance:: Ensure that the content you're posting is relevant to the audience and the venue where it's being posted.
Responsibility: Take ownership of your online activities, the content you've created, and any missteps you've made along the way.

"It's amazing how fast the world of social media moves! As many of the statistics from the original Social Media video have changed, I took a moment to refresh the video with a few new statistics and graphics. Thanks to all of you for your support in making the first Social Media Revolution and Social Media ROI videos such a huge success and I hope that you enjoy this refresh!"
